USING THIS FOR THAT!

Posted 8/25/2009 3:59:00 AM
Not sure why...but lately I'm obsessed with finding alternate uses for stuff. You know, using a product intended for one use, for another....
Here's a great one...I'll post more soon...and I hope you will too!

Use Coffee Filters to:
1. Diffuse the flash on a camera. When you’re taking a close-up, soften the brightness by placing a coffee filter over the flash.
2. Strain wine from a bottle with a broken cork. Place the filter over a pitcher or a carafe and slowly pour the wine into it.
3. Serve popcorn or other snacks. The filters act as disposable bowls, so there’s no dishwashing.
4. Make yogurt dip. Use a rubber band to secure a paper coffee filter over the mouth of a deep cup or jar. Slowly pour 8 ounces of plain yogurt onto the filter. Let drain for one hour. In a bowl, mix the thickened yogurt with ...

18 clever time-savers for super busy people

Ingenious ideas from (and for) busy women everywhere.

Designate a space for "in use" cups

Create a special spot on the kitchen counter where everyone can put half-filled coffee mugs that need to be reheated, water glasses to be used again later, or sippy cups that can be refilled.

At the end of the day, put everything that's still out into the dishwasher. It cuts down on kitchen clutter, and it also avoids shouts across the house of "Are you done with that coffee yet?"

Presort the family laundry

Clean laundry is only half the battle it still needs to be sorted and put away.

Save those steps by keeping washer-and-dryer-safe mesh bags (27-by-36-inch mesh bag, $8, stacksandstacks.com) in each kid's room one for lights, one for darks.

Throw the bags directly into the washing machine and dryer, then hand them back to the kids. If they're old enough, they ...

How To Save On Everyday Stuff You Need

Find deals on everything from garden supplies and groceries to cell phone plans and school supplies.

How to save on your grocery bill

Purchase oranges, onions, and potatoes in bags rather than individually. You'll pay roughly half the price, says Kati Neville, coauthor of "Fix, Freeze, Feast." These items are staples that will get eaten before going bad.

Don't buy nongrocery items at the supermarket. Health and beauty goods are usually cheaper at mass-market retailers, like Target. And you'll find the best deals on paper products at warehouse clubs.

Opt for frozen seafood over fresh. Vacuum-packaged salmon, flounder, and tilapia fillets and bags of frozen shrimp cost 20 to 40 percent less than their counterparts at the fish counter. (If that sounds unappetizing, consider that most "fresh" fish has been previously frozen during transport.) Real Simple: 11 money-etiquette issues, solved

Buy ground beef and chicken breasts in bulk or family-size ...

Eating at Home...

Ok...I know this is a blog about saving money...but not eating out, no matter what you make (unless it's filet migon or lobster) will save you money!
So, I want to know about your inexpensive and easy meals. And not just one recipe...I actually don't even care about the recipe (unless it's so unusual that we can't figure it out by googling it...).
I am asking you to tell me what you served your family for dinner EVERY night for the past five days. Include leftovers,Froot Loops (you know my motto...cereal, it's what's for dinner )  or gourmet meals. Let me know if you ate out one night...or ordered pizza one night...
It's my own personal experiment to see what busy families are getting on the table every night...

I will go first..and this is backwards from last night
Monday: Ate at Mellow Mushroom in Jax Beach
Sunday: Pork ...

Check out these interview tips from real job seekers around the country. Have you tried any of them yet?

Ask the important questions
"One thing I always ask at the end of the interview is, 'Have I said anything that would lead you to ...
